If you have not considered using architectural cladding somewhere in the design of your new home, you are possibly ignoring the single biggest feature to add wow factor to the aesthetics of your new abode. TV shows such as Grand Designs and The Block have been incorporating architectural cladding into their projects they feature on TV for years, it may have left you with the perception that using the material is out of your budget. The simple fact is it is not thanks to a Bayswater company Design Sheetmetal - one of five companies within the Design Group who together, form a large percentage of the Sheet Metal manufacturing industry for cladding, flashings and OEM production. Design Group is Design Sheetmetal, Designer Panel Systems, Form2000 and Britannia Metal Industries. ARCHITECTURAL CLADDING, THE COOL KID IN BUILDING Design Sheetmetal spokesperson Warren Da Costa explained that interest has exploded over the last five years and demand is getting stronger with Colorbond leading the way in producing better cladding systems. ‘Historically, roofing products such as corrugated iron were used for cladding purposes,’ he said. ‘Feature Facades' started to evolve and took hold when a lightweight aluminium face product called Alucobond was introduced. Alucobond changed the landscape forever, clean flat surfaces in a range of new colours, it was the product of choice on many commercial, government and industrial projects.’ Our team are passionate, Colorbond is in their blood Design Sheetmetal services Bayside, South East and the Peninsula, however they have regular projects spanning all of Melbourne Metro and Regional as well as nationally. They have even supplied and installed 15 tonnes of material which clad the facade of Samoa’s beautiful new Parliament House.
Warren said the market now has exposure to a plethora of new paint textures, finishes from Colorbond such as the matt range which has opened opportunities for designers and architects to run wild. European influence has made external cladding more lightweight and differing profiles, ribs and rib heights and a new range of finishes. Design Sheetmetal began as a family run business, serving clients with integrity, mateship and honesty. Fast forward almost 20 years and they still operate with the same groundedness, flexibility and responsiveness as when they first began. ‘Our team are passionate, Colorbond is in their blood,’ Warren said. ‘Our staff are very enamoured people who take a lot of pride in their work. From the factory to head office to our external and international staff - we all work under the same notion. We work with care, we work hard and we put our clients above all.’ Comments are closed.
