By Kate Carnell AO, The Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman
There’s never been a better time to buy Australian. Small businesses have been hit hard by the pandemic and those swept up in Victoria’s second wave are under enormous pressure right now. Amid all of the bad news though, there is a glimmer of hope for small businesses. That is, more Australians are wanting to buy local. An interesting study just came out in the UK, who's headline statistic was that 85% of the population had rediscovered cycling during the lockdown. But the more critical number that came out of that research, was that 12% of Britains would continue to cycle post COVID-19, who weren't riding before the pandemic.
It would be a bit obvious to simply say 'e-bikes', because that particular horse has clearly already bolted. And it will continue to run and run and run. That category will continue to evolve and expand across all categories of bicycles, including kids and road bikes
