Rachel Ford is probably the least expected person you would expect to see generating buzz for one of the country’s biggest and oldest tool shops.
The fashion influencer and model is also marketing manager for TradeTools, which is her family’s business and commands a very influential position, now that online shopping for tools is rising exponentially per capita per year. There are over 60,000 searches per month for trade tools and associated keywords. The upshot is, the sector is booming as tradies become more digitally savvy to online shopping and the sector is showing no signs of slowing down, unlike other sectors of our Covid-19 impacted economy.
She’s got a tough skin, names like ‘Builder Barbie’ are just water off a duck's back as she steers her family’s business into a new online world, a vastly different one to what her grandfather began back in 1948.
With stores stretching from Cairns to Tweed Heads, the limits of distance are being quickly overcome as tradies are prepared to wait for their order to be delivered on the proviso they get a better price and quality.
‘’We’re a family business at TradeTools & we’re dedicated to helping tradies get the right tool for the job at the best price,’’ Ms Ford said.
‘’Our team is passionate about providing good old fashioned customer service to our loyal customers. Because of this we have developed strong lifelong ties with our valued customers. Our TradeTools community is like one big family.’’
Trade Tools is different to any other tool shop in the country in that a 10 year commitment is rewarded with a slice of the action in that long term and trusted employees become shareholders of the business.
‘’The most endearing quality of our staff is their loyalty and dedication to TradeTools and our mission here to help tradies have the best tools and advice,’’ Ms Ford said.
‘’A large portion of our staff members are current or future shareholders in TradeTools as we reward staff with shares in the business if they’ve been with us for a decade or more and contributed in a big way to TradeTools over their time with us and this really shows in our teamwork as a whole.’’
The team has quarterly managers meetings with every manager at TradeTools both customer facing and within our HOQ team to address current gaps in our range or talk about the quality of existing products. This helps the team make decisions for the entire company's product range moving forward.
‘’Most importantly, all of us here at TradeTools never fail to greatly value your custom and we hope to be able to continue to serve you for still many more years into the future,’’ Ms Ford said.
